Cheap (ish) Lappy

Can anyone recommend a cheap (ish) laptop. A friend wants one, doesn't have a fortune to spend unfortunately. I haven't a clue what to look for in a laptop, so will welcome any suggestions.

Budget is £300 - £400

Thanks. :)

She needs it for her daughters homework, and internet use for homework research, nothing too demanding really.

Probably the odd game, again, nothing too demanding.

Thanks for that !

But...........

Any thoughts on this one ? Worth the money ? I might be able to persuade her to shell out extra, if it's worth it.

Looks like a pretty good deal. A bit light on memory, but fine for homework/browsing etc. Cheaper than any of the Novatech systems (when you add XP) and has the HP brand. I would probably go for it.

That's what I was thinking too, thanks for your input. :tu:

Well she sent me a link to a Dell if you take off the support costs Dell always seem to automatically add for you, it's just under £400. Not knowing about processors on these lappy's, am not sure how the Sempron on the Dell matches up against the Centrino on the HP lappy. Any ideas ?
