Game hosting issues

http://forums.introversion.co.uk/def...?p=33221#33221

I'm a big fan of Defcon, a very simple but absorbing game based loosely on the old 80's film, Wargames. Google it, its only £10 and its bloody brilliant.

Anyhow, I've been trying to host a 6-man server (there are no official servers, just customers who host or connect to hosted games) and keep running into problems.

The upload speed in game is about 20-30KB/s, which should be manageable for my NTL 4Mb connection, however it seems its not quite fast enough.

Is this a case of just NTL being......****e? Or can I do something to make things better?

BTW really, try the free demo - the only restriction is that you can't host more than a 2-man server. Its available through steam, or as a standalone download. Ten quid. Its amazing.

I was hosting a server on Serious Sam 2 today with 8 People and no lag at all, I kept asking them. I usually get 58 - 62kb/s upload. So it might be the game or your connection. Have you run a speed test on Speedtest.net to test your upload?

I'm on a router and my ports for serious sam 2 are open. If he does have a router then maybe that's the problem.
