Socket 462 or 754 Processor
I have a K7v88 motherboard and was upgrading the processor. It is very hard to get a amd saocket a processesor, Trying to find out if i can put a 754 processor or a 939 processor in this motherboard.
Please help regards |
Re: Socket 462 or 754 Processor
No, if it's a socket A motherboard then it's Socket A only. The later sockets require more pins and more advanced power feeds...
In other words, get a new socket A, or upgrade entirely. I know what you mean about Socket A's, been trying to get hold of one for a while now... Without using eBay ;) |
Re: Socket 462 or 754 Processor

Re: Socket 462 or 754 Processor
Indeed, however i needed the even rarer variety, as this motherboard only supports a FSB of 133, and older models of Athlon XP's.
Oh well. |

Re: Socket 462 or 754 Processor
I have an Athlon XP 2500+ Barton lying around somewhere which has happily clocked at 2.2Ghz (3200+) in the past. Problem is, it's at my parents' house, two hours away ;)

Re: Socket 462 or 754 Processor
And there's a problem anyway, didn't that run the 333mhz bus?

Re: Socket 462 or 754 Processor
IIRC all the Barton cores run at 166 and the Thoroughbreds run at 133 The Barton 3000 was made in 166 and 200 flavours I think

Re: Socket 462 or 754 Processor
Ebuyer have Duron 1600 / 1800 in stock, but while these are 133/266 FSB, the core may be too recent for some older motherboards.

Re: Socket 462 or 754 Processor
Wait, what am i thinking, i have a 1600+ that i know works in that motherboard, and i know the motherboard that it resides in now can take upto 3000+ Athlon XP's, Durons and what not...
