set top help req'd please
Hiya
Newbie here so please forgive me if question seems dumb or going over old ground! I am trying to set up one of the old Scientific Atlanta boxes(old square type with no card and no scart) to use as an extension in another room - prior to this I have been using a Pace DI4000T box from the same outlet and was recieving all the usual free channels (Beeb, ITV, CH4 & 5 etc. plus a few others) so I know the signal is good as far as the box on the wall. With the older box plumbed in I can only recieve Cartooon Network, Ch5, Ch4, QVC, CNBC Europe, E4 & Sky One - every other channel of the 100 accesible gives either snow or Beeb One - anybody got any ideas or are these old boxes past it these days? Is it possible to reset them?? Cheers Stu |
Re: set top help req'd please
First question is what the heck you still doing with one of those antiques? lol
If your service has been upgraded to digital then you shouldn't really still have the old Sci Atl box, mine was collected at the time of upgrade to digital, though I believe NTL no longer bother collecting the analog boxes these days. My advice is call Telewest who will give you a box on a mirror of the main box's contract for £15, or possibly ask about their free to air box package, it will be much better in the long run as more and more channels are deleted from the analog packages |
Re: set top help req'd please
Thanks for the speedy reply - (Arthur Negus gave me the box!)
I acquired the old box as I had hoped to use it to just watch the free to air titles - they must be of some use cus they still sell on ebay so somebody must be doing something with them - surely (please excuse my logic!;) )if they were completely US then I wouldnt be able to pick up any digital channels at all???? |
Re: set top help req'd please
OK let's get this clear please. Connection of a STB. sold on ebay, or that you just happen to have lying around, without paying a subscription to ntl:telewest, is theft of services. Cable Forum does not condone such activity and will not permit it's discussion.
