I want to connect main pc with the cable and the upstairs pc wireless upstairs pc has 10/100 ethernet card fitted do i have 2 purchase a wireless pci card to work with the Linksys WRT54G sorry but dont know much about wireless stuff....thanks |
Re: Linksys WRT54G Question
Hi.
Unless your PC already has a wireless card fitted (which, unless it is a laptop, it probably won't), you will need to buy a wireless card. It doesn't necessarily need to be PCI, USB will work. PCI is often more reliable though. |

Re: Linksys WRT54G Question
Yes, the upstairs system will need a wireless adapter.
If you are confident about installing PCI cards (opening up the PC!) and have a spare PCI slot, get a Linksys WMP54G adapter, otherwise get a USB 54G adapter, such as WUSB54G or WUSB54GC. |
Re: Linksys WRT54G Question
So If i remove the ethernet card and replace it with a pci wireless card everything will be okay ? ....also could i restrict the bandwidth to wireless pc ? and last of all if the internet is getting abused upstairs speed wise can i disconnect it from d/stairs....thanks

Re: Linksys WRT54G Question
Yes to all three!
The WRT54G supports 'QOS' which means you can allow a certain bandwidth to certain devices, eg 2meg to the PC upstairs. And you can disable wireless in an instant from the WRT54G admin page! |
Re: Linksys WRT54G Question
