Re: Newsgroups
I'd also advise getting a premier ISP for newsgroups as NTL's own is pretty much useless (even more so at the minute as it's almost 75% incomplete). I use Easynews http://www.easynews.com/, they charge $9.99 a month for 20 Gig (about £5.50). There are other providers, everyone has their own favourite. :-)

You could try Grabit which is free. Do yourself a favour and Google NZB sites as this is the easiest way to download stuff off newsgroups. Also check out http://www.nzbsrus.com/ Also you will need Quickpar for repairing missing or incomplete files. :) |
Re: Newsgroups
What you need assuming you're windows based :
(1) quickpar2 http://www.quickpar.org.uk/Download.htm download and install (2) A binary newsreader : I have been using newsbin pro I stll prefer version 4 over 5 though. (3) use newsreader to connect to news server : in my instance it's news.blueyonder.co.uk (4) subscribe to some news groups eg alt.binaries.movies.divx and say download a file (all tar files and especially par files for that single post) (5) Once downloads are complete goto the download directory double click on a par file and verify that you have all the files u need and that they are not corrupt.... if the post is corrupt repair (6) extract file with winrar and enjoy |
Re: Newsgroups
www.newzbin.com is hard to beat for an indexing site and at 25p a week cant be sniffed at
