Wondering about wireless

I have just set up a wireless network (linksys) which is behaving itself nicely, firewalled and and encrypted. Just a query then about how will I know if I have someone else nearby sharing the same encryption on the same channel or, does it matter ? Also there is a tower block with mobile phone aerials on the top and high density housing around, will this affect my signal or even worse, someone elses ?

Your wireless card would show if there was an unhidden network elsewhere in range, but unless you choose the same channel into won't affect you. IF you start getting connection problems you could try switching channels.

Mobile phones operate on a different frequency (900Mhz & 1.8Ghz iir, rather than 2.4Ghz) so should have no effect on wireless IP.

There can be interference but, it's usually not that strong, DECT can also affect Wifi and Vice Versa too
