"MODEM" constintly flashing on my Telewest tv box???

A "Modem" illumination is constlantly flashing in the bottom of the display of my "Explorer 4200dvb" Telewest digital tv box, even when its just on standby.
This tv box is one of 2 in the house and the one concerned is running off a 3-way connector next to my broadband modem.
Does anyone know why this is flashing and how/if it can be stopped??

Perform a mains reset, if not resolved call telewest free from a telewest broadband phone on 151 or 08451420000 from any other line. Quote 1050 or interactive no access. Please perform a mains reset before calling though, we'll only ask you to do it.

I've tried unplugging it from the wall for a while then plugging it back in again but no change.
What it the purpose of this "modem" illumination on the digital tv anyway?

It's the comms light, the return path, go home - settings and services - diagnostics and it will say retun path is off. Also try accessing teleport to get 1050.

Shouldn't do, check teleport that still working? If so then there maybe a boxfault that is not service affecting.

I've never seen a flashing comms light and return path being on. Check teleport if it gives 1050 you need a tech visit.
