Cable Forum - NTL video recording problems

Hi all, this is my first post here.
I do not know a lot but I'm determined to solve this problem so that i can show my boyfriend up. a Nice bloke at work told me bout this site so here goes:
Moved into my present house about a year ago. It had no TV aerial but had a NTL connection. I decided to get NTL then (phone, BB and TV). NTL was dually installed with a PACE STB. The engineer managed to set my video so that the video channels 12345 were BBC1,2 ITV, Ch 4,5 with NTL on channel 6. Not quite sure how the engineer managed to do it without an aerial but he did and it worked great until the Pace packed up and they replaced it with a Samsung -2110C.
No matter how much I tune the video now, its only able to pick up the NTL signal.
Somebody at work said that the STB output might clash with something and that the RF output must be changed to where I live ( Hertford in Hertfordshire).
IK'm not a complete dumb blond and I would love some advice since my boyfriend is convince that I will need to install an aerial.
