Catch All account?
Just looking at my email accounts config and noticed a checkbox for "Catch All" with other options for: Set catchall email deleted, Set catchall bounced, Set remote catch all account.
Anybody got any ideas what these are for? Cheers Lee |
Re: Catch All account?
If I send an email to
asdf@tools4windows.net for instance, the address may not necessarily exist, if it doesn't the "catch all" rule comes into play where it can normally be forwarded to a specific email address, bounced, or deleted. |
Re: Catch All account?
Yep, what Zeph said :tu:
It can be a useful feature, but be prepared to get an incredible amount of spam. |
Re: Catch All account?
Ahh - so I could use this like: forums@tools4windows.net - and in Outlook setup a rule that says anything from this address goes into a specific folder - so thats how people do that! I've always wondered how that works!
So - I assume by default it's set to catch all bounced, since if I send to an invalid address it bounces? |
Re: Catch All account?
Sounds about right, but also you could set up a forums@ address separately.

Not if I've used all my account's I can't! ;) So - if I setup a catch all - I'm likley to get a torrent of spam? That might be fun - a couple of 419'ers! :) |
Re: Catch All account?
It's quite possible yes, I don't get a great deal in my catch-alls however.

Must be just me then... I get a load :(

Re: Catch All account?
Why oh why have I not looked at this before!!
I've just found the forwarder options so now I can do the above without the catch all... |
