Internet Gateway

Hi

Can anyone explain what Internet Gateway means in the Network Connections screen ?

Sorry if it's a stupid questions but never set up a network connection before.

I've been with Telewest for 6 months and on the 10mb option, and Telewest have provided me with a Netgear wireless router for my laptop.

Ran the wireless install disk and everything seems to be working ok.

Have my desktop hooked up to the router via an ethernet cable and my laptop linked via a Netgear Wireless USB
adapter.

Just checked the Network Connections screen on my desktop and it appears to show 2 connections.

One for the LAN connection and another one for "Internet Gateway" connection.

Both are showing as connected.

My laptop also shows connections for "Internet Gateway" and Netgear Wireless adapter.

Thanks.

Re: Internet Gateway

It basically just means what it implies, the route to the internet. As you are connected to a router you now connect to the router which forwards requests to the modem that talks to the internet.
