Pace box power down
Hi,
I have recently invested in an 'intelligent' power multi-block that switches everything else off at the mains when the primary socket reduces consumption. I had hoped to have my NTL Pace box as the primary, but there is not enough of a difference between on and stand-by, so I have had to plug in my TV as the primary. The Pace box seemed to come back ok during the first week, about 3 minutes to boot, but now it can take up to about 10. Is this powering the box on and off a bad thing (apart from having to switch on 10 mins before you want to watch something!)? Thanks. Ps.... I am hoping the TV Drive is going to have a bigger difference between on and stand-by :erm: (oh... sorry I have just realised that I have put this in the wrong thread!) |
Re: Pace box power down
IMO Powering on and off can do more damage then help because the internal components are constantly heating up and cooling down.
:welcome: to the forum and don't worry, im sure a friendly mod will be along to move it ;) |
Re: Pace box power down
:welcome: to the forum. As you discovered, the only difference between Standby and On (on the pace boxes anyway) is that the TV Scart socket shuts down. So, not a lot of difference in current.
The Pace box should ideally be left on, but the easiest option may be to just do as I do, and switch the wall socket off of a night. |
