My Paramount 1 and 2 are now Five Life and Five US...why?
 

Hi, when I select Paramount Comedy 1 or 2 I get Five Life and Five US. What has happened to my comedy channels? I am in Teesside and have a Pace set top box.

Any ideas? Thanks!

ntl recently renumbered many channels. What ones are you using for paramount? should be 132 & 133?

I am using the newly numbered channels, which as you say are 132 and 133. The on screen display still says the channels are Paramount 1 and 2 but the program details just say This is Five Life and This is Five US. The programs have the Five Life and Five US logos in the top corners.

Sounds like your STB isn't processing the DVB tables correctly - have you tried a reboot?

We have boxes upstairs too, and it's happening on those as well, so it's not specific to one box. Did try a reboot, though, and wish I hadn't bothered. The box now won't boot up, I just get PACE displayed on the box and then nothing.

Well, phoned Faults about my stuck STB and they are sending someone tomorrow afternoon to look at it. I have swapped the main box with one upstairs so we maintain cable TV downstairs and they can then fix the upstairs one.

The good news is that as part of the fault logging, the rep resent the signals through to us and that seems to have fixed the original problem and we now have Paramount Comedy 1 and 2 back. If they replace the faulty box, all's good again.

I was quite impressed with how fast the technician is coming out, used to have to wait a lot longer than 24 hours.

A reboot fixed for me - it took ages, thought mine had gone pop too. Channel 149 has appeared. No sign of 148 yet.

148 (Five US) doesn't launch until tomorrow, so won't appear until tomorrow morning.

Well, all's well that ends well. I swapped the boxes back this morning on the off chance that the technician brought a Samsung box and then, if he did, we'd have the better box downstairs.

Bingo! Without me even asking he brought in a shiny new silver Samsung box and everything is now working just fine. This Samsung is massively quicker than the old Pace box.

I am a very happy NTL customer at the moment!
