Wireless speed decrease when uploading
Hi, I have moved into a new house with the 1mb bb with cable modem and D-Link 524 router. I connect wirelessly and the connection says excellent max bars 54mbps strength. Downloading is fine but when I begin uploading the speed of the connection slowely drops to 1mb until eventually uploading ceases. I only get 15kbps max upload which drops below 10kbps until the numbers stop moving and I have to disconnect, and upon reconnection I have full speed 54mbps connection again.
Why would this be happening? I have tried the connection wired and the upload is still low at 10kbps and usually gets lower, but the connection maintains and I am able to complete uploading. So is it just a case of the wireless signal not being strong enough for uploading...if such a thing is possible? Thank you. |
Re: Wireless speed decrease when uploading
So when you're uploading to the Internet, your wireless network signal decreases?

Re: Wireless speed decrease when uploading
Not the signal, that stays at very good or excellent which is 5 bars. It's the speed that decreases. The connection is always there but the speed goes to 1mbps but only when uploading. When downloading the speed and signal stay high. Weird eh.

Yes.

Re: Wireless speed decrease when uploading
Strange...how far away from the access point are you (in metres) when you try to do this?

Re: Wireless speed decrease when uploading
I'd say 10 metres with a wall and landing blocking the line of sight.
