NTL modem taking ages to initialise
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else had what I seem to be experiencing... I used to be on NTL 1Mb and about two weeks ago got upgraded automatically to 2Mb. I'm on an NTL Home 100 modem. I realised I had been upgraded when I turned on the modem and the Downstream light flashed constantly for a few minutes downloading the new firmware I presume. It then eventually stops and Sync and Rdy light up and I can boot up my PC. Now, if I turn off the modem and the following morning turn back on, it seems to redo the downstream thing. Before the upgrade it only used to take about 30 seconds for the modem to boot up. There is no problems with the actual Internet as once the modem is ready I am surfing fine at about 1.8 to 1.9Mb. Anyone know if this is a fault ? |
Re: NTL modem taking ages to initialise
If the internet is working fine once the Modem is synched, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If, however your connection drops out at any time once you are connected it could be a signal level problem I guess?

Re: NTL modem taking ages to initialise
Signal levels seem fine, so I'l leave it for a few weeks and see how it pans out.
