Slow speed - cable modem problems?
Hi my cable modem seems to have some sort of fault . I phoned up technical support and some chap gave me some information about my modem and told me he was pinging me 200+ and he didn't really help me fix the problem , i think this because its still as bad as it was when i phoned up .
To my question , I believe my modem is faulty because I've been using the same modem for a very long time and its been on and off . My connection randomly drops out on occasions . I use team speak to keep in touch with School and college friends and i ping 291 and Packet loss : 24.06% . I have come to this conclusion because when i borrowed my friends modem when he was on holiday and that week i didn't have a single problem (unless my girlfriend counts as one then i had many). If my modem ( NTL:HOME 120 i assume this is the name as it says on the bottom) is faulty , can i buy a new one from NTL or a shop because even when i tell the people on the phone i think the modem is faulty , they just give me a "no its fine," . The reason why I'm asking is because i tried to enquire if it was possible to buy a new modem and the individual on the phone put me to technical service assuming i was reporting a fault . Random drop outs Bad pings in games and Packet loss are some of the problems . Does anyone have a similar problem with the same modem perhaps. Thanks :tu: Ali(Al-e) |
Re: Slow speed - cable modem problems?
if the modem is faulty then NTL should send out an engineer to replace it. Just call tech supp. again and tell them your modem is dying then they'll send an engineer out and hopefully for you replace it with a nice and shiny NTL:250
