Changing Package Line-Up
Hi all
We are feeling the pinch a bit and are looking to reduce our monthly NTL bill from around £100 - £105 to something nearer £65 - £70 per month but to be honest are finding ourselves bamboozled by the many different price plans / offers on the website. Our current package line-up consists of:- 1 x PremPlus season ticket 1 x Family Pack + Sports & Movies (£55.00) 1 x Additional Digital STB (£15.00) 1 x Digital STB rent 1 x Unlimited 4Mb Broadband (£24.99) 1 x Standard 321 This comes out at a basic £94.99 + £8 or £9 on top for telephone calls. We would like to retain the following:- • A basic TV package + Sky Sports. • 4Mb Broadband. • A telephone package. The additional STB can go too. Could someone please help explain / price up what our options are? We would not want to re-sign up to a contract (like mobile phone providers do) but just wish to change our package line-up and get the best value. As we have been cable customers since Dec 1994 (ex C&W) we’re happy enough with the choice of services that cable brings. We are not really interested having 2 or 3 different service providers when NTL can provide all what we want. Any help is appreciated. Regards. Roughneck :) |
Re: Changing Package Line-Up
Give them a call explain the situation and see what deals they can offer you :)

Re: Changing Package Line-Up
Adjusting your TV channel line up shouldn't affect your contract, and equally removing a second STB shouldn't start any new contract, it's just terminating part of one you already have.

Re: Changing Package Line-Up
As has been said, give them a call, they should be able to discount most of your services apart from the Sports & Prem plus stuff - ntl don't control the cost of these packages, so they're hands are tied on the price, as reducing them at all would incur a loss for them. But stuff like family pack, and phone packages can easily be reduced if you get the right person. :)

Re: Changing Package Line-Up
It's worth pricing what you're paying currently against deals elsewhere - eg Sky Talk, Sky Broadband, current Sky half price offers.
I got a very satisfactory deal yesterday, reducing my bill from £73 p/m to £41 for three months :) Ring Customer Retentions and ask if they can do you a deal. |
Re: Changing Package Line-Up
Hi all
As promised, here is how i got on. I spoke to CS yesterday and have agreed the following.. 1) Remove second STB. 2) Downgrade TV package to Family Pack + Sports Collection @ £37 per month. 3) Half price on 4Mb Broadband for the next 3 months only (as a goodwill gesture). 4) Standard 321 to Talk Weekends (same thing?). So, excluding the short term saving on the broadband, this gives me a new monthly bill of £61.99 + calls instead of £94.99 + calls. If the normal price for the Family Pack + Sports Collection is £48.00 (inc telephone line rental). Can i assume that the £11.00 telephone line rental has been discounted to £0.00? I had been paying £55 for Family Pack + Sports & Movies (inc telephone line rental). *me scratch my head* Thanks roughneck |
Re: Changing Package Line-Up
I have to say that's not a particularly good deal. I'm on the same as you exactly (after your changes) and am paying £41.25 for 3 months, then £56.25 thereafter.
Did you ring Customer Retentions ? (0800 052 9403 option 3). I compared what I was paying NTL (£72.99) with what Sky are currently offering : BT line rental = 11.00 Sky Talk = 5.00 (unlimited 24/7) Sky Broadband = 10.00 (unlimited, up to 16 MB) All Sky channels + Sky Sports for first three months = 18.50, 37.00 thereafter ie £44.50 for 3 months, £63 thereafter Make sure your area is Sky Broadband enabled, or near as possible to it as they may check. I also opted for Talk Evenings/Weekends as I don't use the phone during the day (or if I do I use my mobile free minutes) |
