Need help setting up wireless connection

hi all
first post here.
i have recently got a new broadband internet connection throught ntl which has been working fine.
last week a new housemate moved so we needed to set up a wireless network to both use the net.
we had a belkin adsl modem and router so i have been trying to set it up but the instructions are for using it as a modem whereas i already have a modem so just want to use it as a router and so im not sure how to connect it. will i be able to use the adsl modem/router on my cable line?
ive tried connecting it to my modem and computer but one of the led's continues to blink which according to the instructions means its "negotiating a connection"
i'm also unable to connect to web based user info which it says should be available at 192.168.2.1
any help would really be appreciated.
thanks

Re: Need help setting up wireless connection

You can't use an ADSL modem/router to connect more than one PC to a cable connection...

See this thread...
