HDMI & RF out?

Hi all,

Think I've hit a small problem - I'm now using the HDMI connector and want to use my aerial output to send to my tv upstairs, it used to work fine, but now seemingly using the HDMI output, no other output works - the RF channel just shows a black screen with a white line of interference.

I've called the Telewest tech out about this (and if they change the TV Drive it will be box number 4 in around 6 months!!) and hopefully find out why it isn't possible.

Anyone had this problem?

total shot in the dark (I don't have a TV Drive), but could this be a DRM 'feature' designed to prevent copying of anything using the HDMI connection??

AFAIK, you are right.

I've been reading a few worrying things about the implementation of DRM via the HDMI interface, which prompted my post - probably better discussed in another thread, though

Re: HDMI & RF out?

It's just the way the TVDrive is designed. It isn't capable of outputting HD (on HDMI or Component) and SD (on the TV SCART or RF) at the same time.

However, the VCR SCART does has its own decoder, so can output SD whilst the main decoder is outputting HD. So you could use a video sender connected to the VCR SCART socket instead.

Please cancel the tech callout - there's nothing they'll be able to do.

Thanks guys, spiderplant I did speak to the tech yesterday and I told him it wasn't worth him coming out as I suspected it was how it is meant to be - I will most likely use the VCR scart output and use a video sender - that was my last resort but will work at least!

Cheers

Jason
