Wireless Security
Hi, I've just bought the latest Belkin Cable G Router with print server.
It installed VERY easy, the software is excellent. There are several options with Security. 1.WPA PSK 2.TKIP 3.Pre Shared Key 4.128-bit WEP 5.64-bit WEP 6.WPA-Radius Server HELP !!! ..... as a Home user with a Desktop PC & Laptop on Wireless which one do I use? |
Re: Wireless Security
2. TKIP should do it...
|
Re: Wireless Security
Option 1 - WPA / PSK
It's about the best security you can get at home, for now. ---------- Post added at 22:49 ---------- Previous post was at 22:46 ---------- If you want to read up on WPA, see Wiki here. |

Re: Wireless Security
If you have WPA enabled, there is an argument advocating the SSID broadcast on -
Hiding your SSID does not hugely hinder a potential wardriver/hacker. Leaving it on does announce to neighbours that you are using that wireless channel and may reduce potential interference. Slightly O/T ;) |
Re: Wireless Security
I'm using TKIP.

Re: Wireless Security
am using WPA-PSK with tkip. easy to setup, easy to use and its more secure to WEP.
the ssid broadcast I leave on for the reason as Aragorn mentioned...nice answer btw Aragorn ;) |
Re: Wireless Security
MAC address filtering helps :)
|
Re: Wireless Security
WPA-PSK with TKIP, and also SSID Broadcasting on, with MAC Filtering for me.
|
Re: Wireless Security
wpa-tkip with ssid off for me... :)
|
Re: Wireless Security
WPA-TKIP, SSID on, MAC filtering & DHCP scope restricted for me...
Oh, on Linux & XP, WPA's a bugger to sort out on Linux... :) |
Re: Wireless Security
WPApersonel
AES SSID Broadcast disabled Mac Filtering |
Re: Wireless Security
