Digital Telly not working help!

Hi I have a problem where my cable TV does not work, when I first switch the telly on I hear the programme, but never get a picture, just blank, and when the sound fades within a second. With the digital box switched off normal terrestrial telly works just fine!
What is going on?

Have you tried re-seating your scart leads (if you use them) as one of the pins may not be connecting properly.

Also try changing channels and then changing back... for the last week or so my box will not display any picture when first switched on until I change a channel. Doesn't affect the sound though.

what else do you have your box plugged into?

I have the sound works for a second, then mutes, also ;)

On ITV4, for example, the adverts are silent if I turn off my vcr, then the main program via 888 suddenly gets the sound working.

My setup is ntl cable to samsung2100c to phillips dvd/vcr combi, displayed on a Hanns.G 19" widescreen - Cambridge SoundWorks 'Desktop Theater 5.1 (sic) ' for sound :)
