Massive subwoofer

Just saw this and thought it was really impressive.

http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/pro...jackHammer.cfm

It is 320lbs in weight alone! That's nearly 23st! And it has 6,000 watts of RMS power. 12,000 peak.

Craaaaaaaaaaazy.

Anyone like to ask them to start their webserver?

The link didnt work at first forme, but now does, having gone up a level and then clicked on the link in the resulting page.

JackHammer is the most enormous, mind-blowing subwoofer ever created. You will literally not believe it until you see it. Standing in at 23â₠¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ tall, 320 pounds, and with 12,000 watt peak music power handling, you will be hard-pressed to find something that will get in the ring with this heavyweight.

You will need some of http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=...aring_aids.jpg sooner rather than later as well (the sub woofer accessory of the future)

I had to laugh at the boy who used to visit his relatives over the road in his annoying tarted-up little boombox on 4 wheels. The next day he turned up driving uncharacteristically like an old woman with his engine sounding like a bucket of nails (and his ICE seemed to be on ice for the time being). It turns out that, due to his wonderful new one-point-twenny-one-jiggawatts!! of subwoofer etc, he couldn't hear or feel that he had selected the wrong gear on the dual carraigeway and carried on for a good while puzzled as to why he wasn't going very fast with his foot hard on the floor.

The thing that makes me laugh about these 'boomboxes' is how proud the owners seem to be about the sound they are making.

It usually has a very high level of distortion, very little true bass - it's just very loud - and the car it's in usually rattles like anything.

I once read something about an experiment they did in Paris a long time ago. They built a special horn to generate sound at AIR 8 or 10 Hz, switched it on and caused a total panic - the building had to be evacuated. It turns out that true subsonic frequencies at any real volume cause uncontrollable panic and nausea.

Pity there isn't any real low frequency sound in what those 'boomboxes' are shovelling out...
