Wireless Networking on an OLD laptop.
I have my dad's old laptop here.
An Acer 508DX. Now all I'm trying to do is get it to connect with my old 'b' pcmcia card (belkin) But when I try to put in the wep key which is a hex value. It refuses saying i need to put in a 40/104 bit key in. I've got the latest drivers for the belkin card and winxp sp2 on there (not updated yet - as I can't get it on-line yet). Can anyone tell me why I can't put in the right key? Cheers in advance dilli. |
Re: Wireless Networking on an OLD laptop.
Does the old card actually support the hex key bit format that you are trying to use, with the current network?

So you may of course spank me - but I'm gonna :bump:
'cos I'm pretty desperate. |
Re: Wireless Networking on an OLD laptop.
well it sounds to me that it needs a key of either 40/104, im guessing the one you are using is 128 try downgrading the cipher strngth to 40 enter the new key and see what happens..
