New NTL Call Centre??

Hi,

There have been many rumours travelling around local call centres in Newcastle that a NTL Call Centre is about to open in Longbenton (just outside Newcastle). Myself and quite a few others are interested in possible technical jobs there. As we work in the tech support centre for a certain large Telecom company just round the corner ;). There has been a number given out to people, which is the recruitment line for NTL and Telewest (08700 133 133) however, they deny any knowledge of the new call centre opening.
Is there any word on whether this is all just a rumour or are they actually coming to Newcastle?? It seems too big to be a rumour as many people have heard things from different sources!

Cheers :tu:

Ntl: dont run there own residential technical support anymore, they have outsourced to IBM / Manpower, these are based in both Swansea & India.

Newport & hook is for business, offnet & dial up customers ( offnet may be in india aswell ) & i believe some of these services are outsourced to Fujitsu, who i believe happen to run telewest call centres aswell....

there could be a possiblity of another dept moving there, but that wouldnt make sense as to why they shut all the other centres to make 3 so called centres of excellence, & concentrate all training & resources on these...

Especially as one of the main reasons for closing some sites was that they could not expand to deal with the needs of the business and other sites that stayed open had 'plenty' of room for expansion.

Yep, I have a friend who works in London for Fujitsu in a call centre - she takes calls for Telewest's broadband support.
