Switching down from 2MB to 1MB
Has anyone done this? I'm sure I'd be happy enough saving £15 per month and still getting faster service than I used to have. How simple is it to do? And if I find I'm busting the usage limit (which I doubt) how easy to switch back again?

:welcome: to cableforum, you can switch over to other speeds but remember you must keep it for a minimum of 30 days.

Hi Paul and :welcome: to Cableforum.
The difference in price is only £8, not £15 (£17.99 against £24.99) unless you are thinking of trying to get the 1Mb new customer £9.99 deal. You have to speak to customer services to downgrade a package but can upgrade online. You have to have the new package for a month before being able to switch again. |

Also bear in mind that the 1Mbps service has a 3GByte per month usage allowance whereas, for the 2Mbps service, it's 30Gbytes.

Re: Switching down from 2MB to 1MB
That's annoying, didn't know there were usage allowances:(
Not sure what broadband I'm on, all i know is it cuts out quite a bit. Only reason we went for NTL rather than BT (other BT being plain annoying) is because we thought there were no usage limits. |
Re: Switching down from 2MB to 1MB
Usage limits were only recently introduced, and AFAIK at the moment are still soft limits with no action taken unless you always exceeding them.
If your connection is dropping out regularly, call the support line. It may be some thing simple like a signal problem, but make sure you call them when you are by your PC/modem and the connection is out at the time. |
