Cheapest DVDR Camcorder

Hiya all

Right this is top secret from my gf who thankfully aint signed up here. So will only be able to reply when she is not about.

I know she after one of those camcorders which you record onto a mini dvdrw and then put it in your pc and just play it ( or home dvdplayer )

Now she is not after anything fantastic ( she is made up with a intel celeron laptop at 700mhz lent from a friend ) so I know she is not bothered about all the toys.

Accident damage cover would be handy for it unless price is very low, hoping for under £300.

Thanks

The discs are a pig to edit, tape based ones are more flexible.

Not sure about the quality these days, but if you want a cheap camcorder, an MPEG4 DV recorder is alot cheaper than the disc recorders - records direct to memory card.

Any one actually used a modern MPeg4 camcorder?

With all of these you are editing a key frame + motion file thus it is a lot more complicated than editing the raw AVI data.

i've got a mini dv one and TBH the pain of putting this on my PC coverting it into MPEG II and then burning to DVD is a long drawn out process that can lead to reduction in quality as well

the best ones for this are the Sony ones as you can just whack the disk you your DVD player which is what most people want...

another good source for this would be which?
