No Wireless Networks In Range
 

I just turned my PC on and it didn't connect to my wireless network. My PCI card is working fine and router is on. What would you advise?.

It is a Linksys router

I get this occasionally. Rebooting it usually solves it. Alternatively try a repair of the connection.

Switch off pc modem and router for about 1min. Then reboot

Go into the router's control panel (192.168.1.1 from a web browser, from a wired connection is best).

There's a few things that it could be.

Here are some things to check (do one at a time and from a wired connection):

1. Go to the "Wireless" tab and make sure that the SSID Broadcast option is set to "Enable".

2. Have you installed or updated a firewall recently? Check your firewall settings to make sure it isn't blocking the connection to the router.

3. Go to the "Wireless" tab and check what channel it's set to. I'll bet you good money that it is still set to whatever the factory default is.

Work out the range of channels available, mine goes from 1 to 13, and then change to whatever channel is furthest away from the one it is currently set to.

Save the settings, unplug the ethernet connection between PC and router.

Turn off the router and the PC.

Turn the router on and wait for the lights to settle.
Turn the PC on and establish the connection.

You should find that it works much more reliably from now on.

I had the same problem with my Linksys which was set by default to channel 11. I upped it to 1 on Raistlin's advice and it been rock soild ever since. ;)

No prob's glad it's sorted.

Was it the SSID broadcast or was it the Channel setting?
