BY Ethernet Connection
Hi all. I'm having loads of problems getting a connection when I try and connect my BY / Motorola SURFboard modem using the ethernet lead. It works fine with the USB/Firewire connecting lead, but not with Ethernet. Anyone else had this problem?
I need to switch over to the Ethernet connection instead of USB, as I just bought a wireless router than needs to use ethernet. Strange thing is that when I connect the ethernet cable it recognises that PC connectivity has been established, but internet will not connect to any site. Tried ethernet cable on 2 other friends systems (1 same modem, 1 different modem) and these didnt work either!! Maybe it's an area problem?? Help if you can please!! Thanks. Carl. |
Re: BY Ethernet Connection
Hi and :welcome:
Have you tried: Disconnect USB Turn off modem and PC Connect Ethernet Turn on modem, wait for lights to settle. Turn on PC, wait for HDD activity light to settle, log in. I would try this first with just the modem and PC connected together, if this works you will need to follow the same procedure again but connect the router between the modem and pc first. I say "connect" the router because it's a good idea to connect it via Ethernet, change the passwords and other security, and then go on to set up the wireless connection. The other thing to check is that you haven't got a firewall that's blocking your connections, but try the reboot option first :) |

This post appears to be in connection with getting a network up and running. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ad.php?t=31795 |
