NTL and IP Addresses
Hi,
The old on-line gaming issue again. A new website www urbandead com allows players to try and defend a city overrun by zombies. I have 50 action points per 24 hr period to run very fast, etc, etc. However, because of players creating multiple characters, they have imposed a 150 per day hit limit for the IP Address. However, I'm pretty sure I haven't hit the site 150 times today. However, the site has informed me that I have. Fair enough. Is it possible that other NTL users are sharing the same IP Address which may account for the zombies currently tearing my arms and legs off with nothing I can do about it? If I switched of my PC/Set top box for a few hours, would I get a new IP address? Is it possible to force an IP Address change? Thanks very much in advance. Dave. AOL users seem to be having the same type of problems, but it seems to be far worse. |
Re: NTL and IP Addresses
You will probably find that the site is detecting the transparent proxy that your connection goes through, rather than your true IP address.
There's not really a lot you can do about it other than to request that the developers sort things out at their end. :welcome: to Cable Forum by the way :) |
Re: NTL and IP Addresses
Yep, thought that may be the case. Looks like I may have to abuse my internet access at work.
Thanks again, Dave. |
