cant access website
 

hey i am trying to access www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 or any of the bc websites, i know for a fact this site works as the computer down stairs is working but not on my wireless pc in my room, why is this

It could be a proxy problem.

Have you tried specifying a proxy in your browser, on either computer?

Are the browser connection settings different on the two PCs? Perhaps one has a proxy specified & one does not?

it takes ages to load up and & aventually it says cannot find server

i have added a proxy and it now wrks, thanx very much. do i just leave it now then

ntl use transparent proxy servers (in most areas). Sometimes certain ones do not work for certain sites. So, to try & fix it, you manually specify a different proxy.

yes, but sometimes, you may notice that other websites might not work, then you will change your proxy again.

Fortunately you don't have to do this too often.

I had to do it for the first time in over a year and a half, last week.

I usually have to jump proxies for one reason or another at least once a day.
