Yet another phone upgrade help thread

A bit different from the rest, quick outline, I have a contract with O2 with an XDA II that runs out on the 9th of August, I rang them today to see what upgrade options they / I had, here are the options and prices I was quoted to upgrade.

XDA IIs & XDA IIi £99.99
Nokia 6680 £99.99
P910i £99.99

Nokia 9500 £249.99
Nokia 8800 £179.99

I was told any other phone in their range would be a free upgrade, now I've been doing a bit of digging around and to be honest, most of the prices they've quoted me can be easily beaten elsewhere with a new contract.
I don't think that £99.99 is a valid option to upgrade to the XDA's as they don't have that many more features :( I was wanting to look at the XDA III but they have no due date available, I think they might wave the fee on the XDA's if I kick up a stink but what do you lot think

I want / need full internet etc etc and about 400 - 600 X minutes for about £50 p.m.

TIA

Tell them you are thinking of going to another network - you will be surprised what they will give you to keep your custom (speaking from experience!) ;)

Thats what I'm thinking, espeacially as I've been getting a bit of grief off them in the last 2 bills, long story, can't fault the rest of the contract period :tu:

Re: Yet another phone upgrade help thread

I've got an online O2 contract, they promised me a particular phone when my contract was due for renewal earlier this year (I rang them about something else a few weeks before my contract ended.) Then when I rang to renew the contract and get the new phone I was told I wasn't eligible (as I hadn't spent enough money with them over the past year - one month I had a bill of over £200  ) So I asked to cancel when the contract was up - and lo and behold I was phoned back with the offer of the exact phone I wanted - for free.
So it's always worth a try! ;)

Thing to bear in mind when thinking that you will be given x because you spend y amount on your phone each month - one of the bigger factors is how many people phone you - phone networks make more money from people calling you, rather than you calling them...

This is why I stick my number in phone boxes...
