http 1.1 and proxies
Does anyone know if the proxies support the 1.1 standard (persistent connections, pipelining etc.) as I am having some issues with it and trying to diagnose.
thanks. |
Re: http 1.1 and proxies
I think they support 1.1 (I've seen NTL proxies listed as 1.1 when loggin in to Easynews etc) but if you are trying pipelining with Firefox (or using MaxConnectionsPerServer with IE) then you will hit problems - increasing the number of connections just makes the browser very 'jerky' for me - using the invisible default proxy isn't too bad, but specifying one creates problems if you have modified the connections, its against the spec - so not surprising, but other (non proxied) ISP's I've used don't have the same problem.

Re: http 1.1 and proxies
Yeah this is what I am trying to figure out whats cauing these problems.
IE uses high cpu loading pages under ntl but not other isps's so that could be caused by what you said having rised the max connections buit then these connections get queued as the proxy holds them up. But opera is the big problem I am getting all kinds of stalls etc. loading pages especially when loading up the browser and it tries to load dozens of pages together. Opera by default enables pipelining so I will need to specifically disable it. |
