Just got this e-mail

This just turned up in my inbox, It's obviously not for real as it was sent to numerous ntlworld.com accounts, how do I go about reporting it???

Re: Just got this e-mail

first question, may sound silly but have you a pp acct, if so report it to pp however they are not asking you to send them your acct details so it could be an ok mail, do not use there link just in case it is bogus but go to your acct by typing in the address.

Forward the full e-mail (i.e. including headers) to spoof@paypal.com

I would report that as John says, that looks well suspect.

Re: Just got this e-mail

There are known spoofers of paypal accounts (even ones that appear seemingly genuine). Only last week I had one asking me to confirm my paypal account details... and interestingly enough asking for my email account password (do I have "stupid" written on my forehead?).

PayPal are aware of the problem and working real hard to minimise this kind of issue. If you check their website they have details on what to do (incl sending the email to the spoof section - details as per John's post). Also, they duplicate every email they send to you into your message account which you can collect by logging in... so if it's not been sent there then it's not genuine. They'll probably tell you all this when they reply to your "spoof report" as I had a detailed response only last week when I reported my issue to them.

There are lots of Phishing & scam e-mails going around. This link is to a site which gives information about who to contact to report them:-

http://banspam.javawoman.com/report3/scam3.html

Should be useful not only for Paypal & Ebay scams but others too.

Hope forum members find this useful. ;)
