Blank screen and system lockup
 

Ok I got my 9800 XT today, all fitted in and running but I've been having a few problems with it :(

So far 3DMark03, HL2 and UT2004 have ran without problems from the 9800 XT, but certain applications such as 3DMark05 and Umark (benchmarking for UT2004) causes the system to come up with a blank screen, and lockup completely. Only a hard reset works.

I have looked at the temperature while running the 3D test in ATI Tool, temperature gets to 77C at max so it can't be a cooling problem.

One thing that I don't understand is why when I actually play UT2004 it doesn't do this (yet), but running UMark (which actually uses UT2004 for the benchmarks) causes this problem at the same time as 3Dmark05 does (on the first test, usually 1-2 minutes into the benchmark).

Any ideas what is going on? It's driving me nuts :(

I'm running 2000 Pro and have an Athlon XP 2400+ CPU.

Might be my only option, but I'm hoping it doesn't do it ingame later on. Will have to test my other games out soon.

It happens in certain games too. Was just in the middle of playing Halo, blank screen, and the system rebooted.

Any ideas? This sounds like the problem Richard had with his motherboard, but this didn't happen with my 8500LE :(

Try different drivers for the card,agp driver ie chipset,bios,77 degrees isnt cool I would say its quite warm

Looks like I may have solved the problem. Updated my motherboard's BIOS to the latest version, and now Halo + 3DMark05 doesn't have a problem running.
