You can do it in America
http://shop.microsoft.com/special/wa...fo.asp#qualify
not sure about a UK equivalent site but you could try that link anyway and see what happens.

Bugger, just put my product key in and when it heads to the next screen you can only use that site to purchase new keys in the US :( Sorry, will look around a bit more, have you thought of purchasing a cheap OEM copy?

You can only buy M$ licences without the media under a volume licencing program. That usually means you want at least 5 licences for any one item of software. It's really only relevant to businesses.

I usually just buy OEM software (like Paul's suggestion). Thereare various grades when it's legal to use this on your PC, the simplest is when you upgrade the hardware yourself. Since most of my PCs have an additional memory chip, or somethign that simple, its OK for me to use OEM. Having said that I don't know how M$ would know you haven't upgraded. All they say is they won't "support" OEM software (that's the retail advantage), but you can still download all the patches from their website.

and it is very handy when you can get your hands on volume licences as you can install any OS that you want as long as you have got the disks.

EDIT: my understanding of the english language is not too good so when I mentioned install I really meant evaluate ;)

Now, where did I leave that volume licence
