Unable to retrieve email using Outlook Express
Last night I restored my computer and I had to re-install my BB but when I tried retrieving my email using outlook express all I got was this:
The server responded with an error. Account: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Server: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90 Can anybody tell me what this means? I phones NTL tech support but all they told me was to delete my account and re-add it again, twice. Then he told me that there is something wrong with outlook express and that I should fix it. Please help. I can access my mail thru ntlworld but not outlook express |
Re: Unable to retrieve email using Outlook Express
This sounds like a problem with your antivirus (AVG in this case).
Can only suggest that the best thing to do is uninstall the AV program and then do a reinstall. __________________ Having said that. I think that it was the AV program that was causing problems with you disabling your network connection. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ad.php?t=31374 But as you never told me if you had one or not, or answered any of the other questions I asked you, it was impossible to help you sort it out. |

I did try from safe mode and I got the same thing. That is why I just did a full restore. I then used the NTL installation disk to get my BB back up. Everything is working fine except getting my mail via outlook express. I will try your suggestion about the AV now and will come back to you. __________________ Quote:
Thanks for the help, again. I'm sure that we will talk again:D Mark |
Re: Unable to retrieve email using Outlook Express
NP. Glad you got it sorted.
The giveaway was the "AVG" bit in the error message. Hope everything else keeps working ok for you :) |
