Very Annoying VPN/RAS problem
Hi all......
In need of help before I knock myself out on the desk !!! :( I have a customer that currently has a 5 computer domain working perfectly. The customer wants to be able to RAS in from remote sites. No problem I thought... As the users use very poor passwords I created a vpn account in active directory that will just establish the lt2p tunnel. I can connect to the vpn with no problems and add my ip to the internal network subnet. The problem is with the login screen. On windows xp as you do with 2k you get the " connect using dialup connection " tick box. When this is ticked it transferes the users details onto the dial up box, Seems plain that Microcrap think that the dial up vpn connection is going to be the same as the logging on user. I want the system to log onto the vpn using a single account that has a high security password "26 chrs" and not with the users credentials. I cant make this happed...... For example... If you try and login with the user "fred" and the password "donkey" the ras connection forgets the secure password and tries to dial the vpn with the above details. Is there any way I can make the dial up connection allways dial the secure account ???? HELP :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: |

Re: Very Annoying VPN/RAS problem
Sounds odd to me, if you have uysed the XP Pro Creat new connection wizard to set up the VPN, that should have allowed any user name and password combi to be entered and retained. I don't recall that having to be the same as a logged in user name to the PCs local account.
