E-mail problem - SMTP issue?
 

Hi There, this is my first post so pls be gentle ...

Last week I got up and running on ntl Broadband and after a tricky start (including the engineer reversing into the lamppost outside my house ;o)) everything seems to be fine apart from my E-mail. I have previously used a .tiscali.co.uk E-mail address via dial up and webmail (I do have an ntlworld one that I had for dial up but that was flooded with spam from the minute I set it up so Iâ₠¬ÃƒÆ’¢â€žÂ¢ve always used Tiscali). I have configured the account in Outlook and can receive mail OK to my tiscali address, however I cannot send mail from my .tiscali.co.uk address unless I sent the outgoing smtp server to be ntlworld.com (as opposed to smtp.tiscali.co.uk)
So †¦ is this normal now that I am on Broadband and not dialling up to Tiscali and also will the fact I am going through an ntlworld smtp server effect any Tiscali mail and any suggestions on how I can get the smtp.tiscali.co.uk to work (or will it never work with ntl broadband)

You're on NTL broadband using NTL servers so they expect your email to route through their SMTP servers. You'll be able to receive email from the account but you will most likely be restricted to sending through smtp.ntlworld.com.

Are you intending to keep both your Tiscali and NTL accounts?

If so you will need to set up 2 separate e-mail connections, one for Tiscali and another for NTL.
