Wireless or wired? A lot of people will say Linksys, Belkin or Netgear ;)

I use a Netgear WGT624 Wi-Fi Router. Never had any problems with it. Although there is now a new version of it WGT634U this is the same thing except it has a USB port built into it for a USB2 HDD. This would allow you to have some cheap dedicated network storage.

Personally, I use a linksys router - WRT54G for Wireless or BEFSR41 for just wired are the current models.

The WRT54G gets a lot of praise on here for a wireless router setup as Aragorn has said. I take it the computers to be connected wirelessly already have the necessary wireless cards etc?

If you want wireless connection then you will need to get a wireless card for it.
Something like this

Are you comfortable opening the PC up to install a card? They aren't hard to fit :)

If you want the PC next to the router (and Cable Modem / STB) then you shouldn't need anything else (both you NTL CM and router should come with an ethernet cable, afaik).
If you want to place the PC somewhere else in the house, you will need a wireless adapter. If you, or someone you know, is confident putting a PCI card in a computer, the Linksys WMP54G (http://www.linksys.com/international...oid=6&ipid=232) would be a suitable adapter. If you don't want to open up the computer, you can get a USB wireless adapter.
