Smart swimming

BBC
Quote:

Smart goggles that help swimmers log laps have been designed by a UK engineering student.
The Inview goggles display a lap count and time elapsed on their lenses so swimmers can track their progress.
Invented by industrial design student Katie Williams, the goggles use an in-built compass to spot when swimmers complete laps.
Ms Williams said the goggles would let swimmers concentrate on improving their strokes rather than count laps.
Technology is getting everywhere :erm:

Wonder what would happen if you just span the goggles round on your finger :dozey: new world record perhaps  :D but yep, technology is getting everywhere, gotta love it, I saw a pair of sunglasses with built in mp3 player / phones the other day, very nice :tu:

Oh yeah I wonder if she thought about that??? Pretty clever idea though

That is a cool idea. All this technology makes life so much easier.
Its a great thing.

looks like it's still an "idea" as there is a lot of "would" used in the report.

Good idea though.

ould even be done with sensors at both ends to help measure individual lap timing etc.

The prototype might be a bit of a problem until they manage to minaturise the circuitry & waterproof it, otherwise the extension lead would get rather wet :D

Well that and swimming with a PC on your back would slow you down :erm: lol

imagine if it elecronically broke down.

ZZaaaappp.... although I doubt there would be sufficent current to do any harm, but the noise would perhaps empty the entire pool in seconds. :D
