E-mail password works in browser but not Outlook

Any explanations as to why this could be?

I can log on to my NTL mail through the web no problem.

However, if I try with Outlook it won't have it.

Please help.

Thanks very much.

you need the imap, not pop, connection to your ntl mailbox for outlook to work, as far as I know - I can't remember the link, though??

Nope. Outlook works with the pop connection.

Are you accessing the main account email address?

ie: youraccountname@ntlworld.com?

If so then there's no reason why the password shouldn't work (well, none that I know of anyway).

Just remember that when you put the details into Outlook you only put in the bit before the @ in the username box. So, in the example above, you would put yourusername into the account name box, not yourusername@ntlworld.com.

Also, and apologies for being obvious, you are using pop.ntlworld.com, right?
If it's still not working, what is the exact error message (i.e. does it actually say the password was rejected?)

I was using @ntlworld.com.

I can't believe it! I sent a snapshot of it working to myself to use to set it up and still I got it wrong.

It's because all the e-mail accounts at work use the whole address.

Cheers everyone but obviously thanks to Raistlin.
