Linksys Router question

I'm going onto Bulldog broadband in a few weeks, my new modem will be an ADSL modem, will my router work with my new modem or will I have to buy another router? The router I have at the moment is a Linksys wireless-6, 2.4GHz bradband router.

Possibly not if it the router you are currently using :( Can you confirm the model number of it?

 Would have thought a standard (i.e. broadband) router would work with an ADSL modem, assuming the ADSL modem has an RJ45 (ethernet) connection (not just USB). The problem is usually trying to go the other way, i.e. use an ADSL modem/router on cable.

What router is it?

Also, what modem will you be getting? If it's a bog standard USB one, then I very much doubt that a normal cable/dsl router would work.

Prob best off getting a combined ADSL modem & router.

It's a USB modem they are sending.

Be aware that if you are using a Wireless B device (would be denoted as 11mb or B) then if you have 8mb you aren't going to get the fall 8mb, it usually is ~less than/half the quoted speed (11mb and 54mb).

Cheers Matt Reps added. Looks like I'm on the phone in the morning to cancel it.

Huh, you will need to buy an ADSL modem to work with any router as all the free ones are USB only. I've a speed touch ADSL modem going if anyone wants it.

I bought the linksys one ADSL2MUE, you put this in bridge mode, put all the ADSL settings into your WRT54G and off you go.
