.NET BroadcastEvent Viewer
 

Can anyone help with this ? When closing down the PC an error message appears saying that it's trying to close down an application/ application not responding for .NETBroadcastEvent Viewer. What is this application and do I need it ? Is it part of the Windows .NET Passport ?

Any help appreciated. ;)

Dunno what it is but it sounds like something you do not need running,I would see if its running from start up if it is try disabling it,if not try to track down whats starts it running and why,use running processes to track what starts it

Trying to track down info through Microsoft web site and it seems to be something to do with Wireless Networks but nothing specific about the problem I have on the web site. :(

I have this problem as well. What I have found is that these errors are related to the Microsoft .net framework. I have installed both 1.1 and 2.0 and they both provide the same error message. When I unistall them the message doesnt happen. The only problem is that I need the .net framework for my ATI Catalyst control program. Anybody got any new ideas?

The ATI CCC is a real pain (mostly thanks to the .net framework being flakey), if I were you I'd uninstall it and either use a control panel from an earlier catalyst driver release or use ATI Tray Tools instead

thanks for the advice i'll do that. i believe i've got a torrent client that uses .net framework as well. i'll have to find a new one, too. thanks again.

I think some firewalls tend to aggravate problems with ATI CCC- even if you hadn't already mentioned it, I would have asked, as it surely is the nightmare beast under .Net

No problem using a .net based torrent client, so long as you close the app before shutdown - it seems to be an application close issue.

PS. I have Catalyst 6.1 running under .Net 2.0 ONLY (1.1 uninstalled), and so far, it seems to be behaving itself, though this particular bug seems to be somewhat random in onset.

If you have the ATI tray icon as well, try turning the tray icon off - if not, try turning it on - YES, it IS that flaky, any slight change can trip it or clear it.

PS. Are you using a firewall other than the standard Windows one?

no just using the windows firewall. I will give you guys an update tonight as i have to run a windows repair. I tested some generic kingston ram in my sys today and it cratered windows. that generic SOB. DANG. guess i have to fork over 150$ for the corsair.

I used to get this .NET BroadcastEvent Viewer problem too. I no longer get it since switching to the OmegaDrivers (www.omegadrivers.net) version, which doesn't insist on having the .NET runtime stuff installed.

Im pretty sure its to do with the Catalyst Control centre cos since ive started using it, Its been popping up when I go to shut down too.

actually funny enough since i have done the windows recovery using the recovery console and uninstalled .net 1.1 and upgrading to .net 2.0 i no longer get the message. can't tell you what exactly i did, but the error message no longer appears! HooRAH!

Thanks for the link to a program that looks useful to many.

However, I have integrated graphics processor. Even though the ATI Tray Tools version is only 2 months old, after I installed this program my system went into a "reboot loop." I had to boot into Safe Mode and uninstall it to end the loop.

I have the same problem. I mean had... with .NET BroadcastEvent Viewer not closing. I found this message on onother forum. It worked for some people but not me.

I fixed this problem with a program called Tuneup 2007 (30 day demo avalible). This program has a thing in it to allow you to control windows start-up programs. I stopped catalyst from stating with windows. No more error message and video drivers seem to be fine. Hope this post helps someone.
