Info On Car Navigation Systems Req

Sorry, another car question.

My mum is thinking of getting the old man a car navigation thing for his birthday.

I have no experience at all of these. Anyone recommend good ones, helpful info, prices etc.

Do these things need a regular fee to be updated or not ??

:dunce: :p:

Thanks.
SBH.

Hasn't this sort of thing been discussed recently in several threads? I think Mike was asking in one, try searching for Tom Tom.

Hmm.. I've been looking at tom tom, but think 300+ is a bit too steep for it... maybe this is a good middle ground

Word of warning !

Unless the unit you choose has a separate antenna......

A certain type of re-radiating (metalised) screen that reflects heat out of a car might cause a problem. These seem to be an option on the latest Renaults, Citroens and Peugeots since about the time the new numberplate system was introduced. These windscreens can usually be identified by the blue/cooper appearance of the glass. In this case you will need a GPS antenna which can be mounted to the side of the windscreen where the metal filaments do not exist or outside the car.

Didn't you read it's for a man. Pointless getting a talking one, won't listen to it.
