VAT receipt etc
Dear All
Sorry for being a spanner I have done a search which brings up loads of stuff (but not that helpful). 1) Can I demand / have a VAT receipt for my internet BB connection (i.e. one every month for each debit payment). 2) Can I get my BB account to swap over to a new 'company' bank account and insert 'name of my company' between my name and the rest of the address (or will they ask questions like 'you need bussiness broadband'?) 3) if I have to go for business BB (really want to resist this as I can not see the advantages really) - what happens (i.e. is it just a flick of a software switch or what?) thanks Mark |

If you want to put the account in the name of a business you will definately need a business account! The main advantage business broadband gives over home broadband is that you get a guaranteed service, in other words if your connection stops working they come and fix it that day and there is compensation available if they do not meet the required service levels (on a home account you could be without any connection for a prolonged period and get no compensation). |
Re: VAT receipt etc
1) Yes, can be set for VAT bills to be sent automatically every month
2) You can pay from a company bank account if you so desire but the account name has to be in yours otherwise you'll be refered to business 3) No idea |

I would not bother asking NTL to add the business name to the BB, just put it through the business as an out of pocket expense. 16.6 Less detailed and modified VAT invoices If you make retail sales, you should give your customer a VAT invoice if asked for one. However, you may be able to use one of the options described at 16.6.1 and 16.6.2 below (see also paragraph 16.2.1). You may be liable to a financial penalty if you do not issue a VAT invoice when asked to do so by a taxable person. can issue an invoice showing: · your name, address and VAT registration number; · the time of supply (tax point); · a description which identifies the goods or services supplied; and · for each VAT rate applicable, the total amount payable, including VAT and the VAT rate charged, shown in sterling. Exempt supplies must not be included in this type of VAT invoice. To work out the amount of VAT in a VATinclusive price, you have to multiply by the VAT fraction (see paragraph 7.3.1). |
Re: VAT receipt etc
thanks all!!
errrr ...http://business.ntl.com/internet_pro...d_packages.php why is there no 3 MEG BB for business ?? I am sitting here now using my home BB - and for £3 less a month I drop 1.5 MEg oh ... and it will cost me £90 to self install (WHAT?? I already have a modem). Err just been on the phone - 25 days lead time for installation ... a new modem required, less speed, more money .... good grief ... this is going on expenses... |
Re: VAT receipt etc
Which is why Mrs H new office space has Demon ADSL, 7 day lead time, proper fixed IP, so fixed they print it on the letter. 24hr customer service and free upgrade to 2Mb when BT get to it.
Couldn't wait 25 days for an install. Now why bother? You can phone them and state that your employer wants a vat receipt as you are now part of their DR/Work from Home arrangements and they will be paying your BB from now on, however require a VAT reciept for your expense reclaims. Can this be sent each month automatically? |
Re: VAT receipt etc
Yo all
For those that care; you can ask NTL to send you a bill each month for the BB connection AND a VAT receipt at the same time (no need to phone up each month). nice one! MArk |
