been getting a few errors can anyone help

Hey i have a problem with my computer when i start it up after it gets past post i get 3 messages that come up on screen.

Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run windows or a windows application. The windows registry or system.INI file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists. if you deleted this file on porpose, try uninstalling the associated application using it's uninstall or set-up program. If you still want to use the the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file.

That is that message that appears before each of these file names

vnetsup.vxd
vredir.vxd
dfs.vxd

and it follows each message with "press any key to continue". this all happens before windows starts and then wien windows starts i get another error message, it is a box that pops up and it says,

Windows Network
Unable to load dynamic link library
MSNP32.dll
The system cannot find the file specified some or all of the following feature is not available.
"Microsoft Network"

then there is an ok button when you click that windows finishes loading and everything seems to work fine altho my comp does run a little slower than normal

does any one know what program these files are associated with and how to fix them i havent deleted anything or moved anything i just formatted my computer then after it had went through all the setup and windows loaded for the first time everything was fine then i swiched off my comp then the next day when i put it on these messages came up and have been coming up ever since. anyone know whats wrong and a way to fix this problem with out formtting my comp again thanks ...

Start and Run, type sfc and press enter... then whatever the option is to check and reinstate system files. it's a while since i used 98 and i can't remember exactly.

try this first.

Did you have a Win98 CD in the CD-ROM drive at the time as you weren't pointing to it for the "restore from" location.
http://www.duxcw.com/dcforum/DCForumID7/96.html might help a bit but you may need to remove your networking device, reboot the computer and allow Windows to rebuild the protocols for it.
How are you running Windows 98SE if you only have Windows 98 on CD?

windows 98 is on 2 master cd's that came with the computer and all the software is on them aswell but windows is split between the 2 cd's rather than on just one of them can i still do that or will formating be my best option

and no i didn't have windows 98 cd in at the time that was the default restore from that came up, with my computer when you format or install windows it copys it to the hard drive so there is no need for the cd's after that or at least thats what they tryed to do but it doesn't seem to do that

Why are we assuming that he needs the files? I'd just remove the references to the VxDs from system.ini and be done with it. The PC is working - does everything it should? It's likely something uninstalled and left bits behind - Brother printer drivers tend to do it. The errors on startup can be dealt with by unticking anything suspicious in Start... Run... msconfig... Startup
