Warning

Last night it was reported to us that a member was PM others asking for the MAC address of their modem, because a 'friend' required it to use ntl in the same area.

We would like to remind you, that the MAC address belongs to you and you only. The only people who would need to ask for this information is ntl themselves.

Please report any further activities of this nature to the team, and we will happily deal with them.

Thanks

Re: Warning

I do hope members are aware of the implications of giving out the MAC address of their NTL equipment to unknown people :erm: That and publishing your public IP address on the forum should always be discouraged unless you know for a fact you are giving it to a member of NTL staff or a member of the team.

Re: Warning

I get the idea from people in ntl this is a big problem that ntl ha been playing down.

I would of thought any requests by pm along these lines would be an individual acting on behalf of an organised group.

I very much doubt there's any organisation involved, far easier ways of doing this than asking on a forum.
