ITunes Gift Certificates

Hi,

Its my mates birthday coming up and his girlfriend is getting him an Ipod, so I though I'll get him a gift certificate off Itunes.

The problem is when I click on buy gift certificates on the Itunes site it tells me "itmss is not a registered protocol". Any idea what the problem is? Do I need Itunes installed to buy a gift certificate?

Yes, you need it installed.

Is there no way to purchase them with out it? Don't really want to install it just to buy a gift certificate.

You have to have it installed. That protocol is intended to work with the iTunes application. Apple is pushing like mad to get iTunes and Quicktime installed on as many desktops as possible, and this is one of the ways they're going about it.

I get this dialogue, because I have iTunes installed already:

And it opens up the iTunes Music Store at this page:

At some point it's going to ask you for an invoice address ... it should recognise you as a UK customer and change its pricing to GBP at that point - AFAIK! It certainly won't bill you in USD.
