Screen Blanking

Recently for no apparent reason the screen will suddenly go blank, however we can still hear the sound. If you change channel or press the TV button on the ntl remote then the picture comes straight back up... it's like a power save mode.

We have a pace box and for the previous few months of owning it apart from crashing it's been ok.

Any ideas?

Have you tried contacting CS to report the fault? It could be a signal issue or even a sign that the box is failling.

I thought i would check here first in case it was a a known fault with details on fixing.

I have a pace stb, it has done that occasionally for as long as I have had it. 4 or 5 years. Occasionally the sound will go as well leaving an apparently dead TV. Changing the channel and/or sometimes a reboot will restore things to "normal." The condition seems synonimous (sp?) with a lack of activity with the remote.

its not a known fault though, so If I were you I would report it to ntl immediatly and demand a samsung set top box:).

mine does the same and has done from when i was updated from the pink background to this blue about 2 yrs roughly
the engineer (who has been out a bout 4 time now ) (different ones i might add) say its a known fault and should be corrected when the next new update of software hits the screens i aint going to hold my breath tho i have found even rebootin the stb does not cure this for long now
