email problems
 

I am new to Cable Forum and I hope someone out there can help me. I am currently unable to receive the emails my sister sends from France. She receives mine ok but I do not receive the ones she sends. Its been happening for 3 weeks or maybe longer. I use NTL she is on Wanadoo.Fr. NTL say its a problem in France my Nephew says its a problem her in UK with NTL. All other emails from my contacts etc arrive ok including from Belgium & Oz. Help someone please

You could use a second email account to see if it's a problem with the mail being passed between wanado and NTL's servers.
I would try a Gmail account to see if her emails get through if it's going to a gmail server instead of a NTL server.

is your sister trying to send mail by using the 'reply' feature from your messages, or a new message from scratch?

She has tried both ways. She has lived in France for 15 months so its not a new email or anything like that.

How are you checking for your emails? Webmail interface or outlook express etc?
I would try a gmail account, if it gets through then you will know that there is a problem somewhere between NTL and Wanadoo when it comes to email, it may be that someone has put us on a blacklist again :erm:

Reetie, you should have a pm waiting for you at the moment. If you want to try a gmail account to see if your sister can contact you through it then let me know.

I check my emails on Outlook E

I have just checked out Google I could not find where I can sign up for a Gmail. I have never signed up as a user on Google and I am not sure if I can get a gmail A/C.

Do you not have a flashing sign in the top right corner telling you that you have a private message?
I've already messaged you to let you know that if you send me you current email address I'll send you a gmail invite.

Please excuse my slow response but I have not found my way around yet and I am not an experienced user (glad to see West Ham)

If you look at the top right corner of this page you will see an are that tells you about the number of new posts and PMs. If you click the private message link, open the message in question and select reply you will be able to pm the sender back.
Once you know where things are it's easy lol ;)

Are you sure of that email address and do you have a hotmail account or anything that can be tried?
I take it that the email address you sent me is the same one that all your contacts are using?
Can you double check the information in Outlook Express accounts to make sure the email address is correct for the account that you are sending from.

Gmail invite sent, hope it works better than the NTL one so that you can contact your sister whenever you want.
